☺Doomsday Book

☹God's Spy

I was pretty sure I was going to love this book. I have loved every book I have read by Spanish authors, Carlos Ruiz Zafon's The Shadow Of The Wind, and anything written by Arturo Perez-Reverte (Club Dumas, The Fencing Master) for example. Spanish novels, properly translated to English, evoke such a beautiful visual tapestry as I read. In this newly translated contemporary thriller, after the natural death of Pope John Paul II, someone begins killing Vatican insiders. The hunt for the killer reveals a chilling conspiracy within the walls of the Vatican. This was a huge bestseller in Spain and the rights were sold to twenty-eight countries. Bad, bad, bad translation. Blech!

I actually liked this coauthored book. I mean, I really, really liked it. I loved the story and I hope the main character becomes a regular and Patterson, et al, brings him back for more!

Really, haven't I said enough about these "Between the numbers" books. Just stop reading them, I tell myself, but Noooo! (Insert slap in the head here)

Never one to jump on the bandwagon, I waited about, oh, four years to read this. Six hours later, yeah, yeah, you were all right, this is an unforgettable book. I loved it. Are you happy now? No one likes a smarty pants.
