I first discovered Noah Gordon when I read "The Last Jew". He has a way of relating historical events, through the eyes of his characters, so vividly that when I'm not reading the book, I find myself wondering what the characters are doing. Then the little voice in my head says "they aren't doing anything you idiot, it's a book", but I don't listen. Stupid voice.
