Welcome To Book Stop

I'm Lady
Meet my family

Pasted Graphic

Hi. I'm Lady. I scratched out some family portraits so you could meet my humans and see their bookstore. I can't take photos because, well, no thumbs. I work just about every day that my Mommy works. I greet customers (and herd them into the store in the summer), keep the sofa warmy, eat nummies that all the delivery people bring, visit with Scotty at the surf shop, and never ever eat children. Lick yes, eat NO.

So, meet my humans.

page30_6
This is Mom (Cynthia).
She reads ALL THE TIME. If she's not reading she's carrying her book under her arm while helping people or shelving. She is almost ALWAYS in the store and you may not make it out alive unless you buy one of her suggested books. She's an enormous word nerd. HUGE. But I love her because she brings me to work, which is the best place ever, ever.

page30_7
This is Dad (Charlie).
He helps out a lot! He doesn't read as much as all the girls, except maybe the scrolly thing at the bottom of SportsCenter. But he has his own book club now and we are glad he almost never drops the F-bomb when he can't find a book when Mom has the day off.

page30_8
This is Christina, the oldest of Charlie and Cynthia's daughters.
She is also a mega-word nerd. She lives in New Jersey and teaches - SURPRISE - reading, but if you're in the store, chances are she'll call - two or three times - just to say "Hi". I don't know how we get along without her.
Oh, phones ringing. Must be Christina!

page30_9
This Laura, the middle sister, or as we like to call her, Jan Brady.
She attends Portland State University and in her spare time knows EVERYTHING about young adult books and, yes...word nerd.

page30_10
This is Kelsey, the baby of the family.
She is in 8th grade and works in the store after school quite often. She can sell books her MOM has read because she actually pays attention when Mommy rattles on about her book of the day. So...word nerd. They're a tremendous thundering word nerd herd. Jealous? Yeah. Thought so.

Hood River and Mount Hood

Nestled between Mount Adams and Mount Hood in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, the Hood River area is rich with some of Oregon's best restaurants, art galleries and shopping and, of course, there are at least four coffee shops within walking distance of our store.

We don't serve coffee at Book Stop,
mug
but if you'd like to bring us a cup, that's fine.

At Book Stop, we offer a blend of new and gently used books in a spacious and relaxed atmosphere, which includes comfortable seating areas where our customers can browse and relax. We are an intimate family owned and run bookstore.

So please, walk through our doors and open your heart and your mind to our shelves and our staff. Let us help when you ask, keep quiet when you need quiet and make sure that you leave with a book either in hand or on order. We wrap, smile, talk, recommend, advise and listen.

Our Kid's Corner is filled with reasonably priced new and used children's books and bean bag chairs and cushions where our littlest customers can lounge while reading. We also have coloring books and crayons at our children's table to keep them entertained while you browse.

While you are in the store, feel free to hang out with Lady, Book Stop's most popular employee!Lady adopted our family in 2002 when we visited her in a foster home sponsored by PROD (Promoting Responsible Ownership of Dogs) in 2002.
