I loved his book Sign of the Cross. I couldn't even get through this. Silly, implausible, and, after reading about 100 pages, I don't even know what it was about! I think it was rich people who can do anything they want with their money, so they use it to torture people for fun. Something like that. Maybe.

Pacific Vortex!

The first ever Dirk Pitt adventure. FUN!

Book of Air and Shadows
by Michael Gruber

Okay, so I found out that Michael Gruber is the cousin of mystery writer Robert K. Tanenbaum. There is some serious family back story there (see this Publishers Weekly article for the full story), but suffice it to say, Gruber is the better writer and this book is fantastic! His previous novels (Tropic of Night, The Valley Of Bones, and Night Of The Jaguar) are also wonderful, but he hits it out of the park with this historical thriller.

Not nearly as good as her first foray into the mystery genre, Case Histories, this is still a wonderfully written, tightly woven, very British mystery. I look forward to more.
