NOTICE!
Due to lack of shelf space we are unable to open new credit accounts at this time.
It is our goal to accept as many of our your used books as we possibly can,
while still trying to maintain our bookstore's lack of "
Used Bookstore Clutter".
We will let you know when we can resume our trade-in program.

Our Used Book Trade-in and Store Credit Policy

Trading your used books:
Want to trade in some books for credit? We offer 15-25% of paperback cover price (hardback percentage varies) in the form of in-store credit, which is good toward the purchase of any item in the store. We take books which we feel we can resell based on desirability, market value, in-print price, condition, and our current stock levels. We regret that, with very few exceptions, we can only take hardcover books released in the past 1-2 years. If a title has been released in paperback, we probably cannot accept it in trade. This is subject to change on a day-to-basis, but we will always do our best to give you the best price we possibly can.

What we do not accept:
With so many books in the world and our stock continually changing, it’s not possible to know what we’ll be interested in at any one time. However, there are several types of books we do not take:

  • Family Bibles

  • Textbooks

  • Encyclopedia sets

  • Adult series westerns (Longarm, Lone Star, etc.)

  • Adult series romances(Loveswept, Harlequin, etc.)

  • Most book club editions

  • Magazines

  • Original software user's manuals

  • Reader’s Digest Condensed Books

  • Damaged books (including, maybe especially, those which smell bad)

  • In general, if you wouldn’t pay for it in its condition, we probably don’t want it.

How books are evaluated:
We will sort through your books and choose those we think we can sell. We will then call you and let you know the amount of store credit we can offer to you. If we feel that a book is of significant value, we will contact you and give you the choice of receiving credit for the book or picking up the book to sell on your own. Upon your acceptance of our store credit offer, books are quickly priced and shelved. Any books that we feel we cannot accept you are asked to take with you, or if you would like, they can be donated to our Bargain Books section. A portion (50%) of the proceeds from the sale of our Bargain Books goes to assist our local Elementary school libraries in purchasing books for their school.

Using store credit:
Store credit can be used, for up to 50% of the sales total, to purchase anything we carry in the store. It cannot be used to pay for specially ordered out of print or hard-to-find books.
